For those of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a safe and wonderful Christmas with family and friends. For those of you who do not celebrate, I wish you a much relaxing time off from work. From our house to yours, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
It is a time for celebration, not only because of the holidays, but also for my 4th anniversary of publishing my first dark, psychological suspense thriller novel, Net Switch, on December 21, 2011. As I read many times, the best way to freshen up a book and its sales is by giving it a book-lift. So that’s what I did along with readjusting the eBook price to $2.99. The time has finally come to unveil the new cover.
I’ve learned a lot since publishing this novel, and noticed an improvement in my writing, however it has never diminished the pride and love I have for Net Switch.
At the time, I had plenty of things going on in my life to distract me from the story. The fact is I had no plans on writing such a novel. As one Goodreads reviewer said, “It’s dark, it’s sexual, it’s violent, and it’s not afraid to touch you in the bad places.” This story came out of nowhere, and it seemed to have written itself during NaNoWriMo. I thought I’d write more on the lighter side, such as romantic comedy, where the subject matter isn’t deep and dark.
In keeping with the dark, psychological theme, I worked with my cousin Brian Baer on the first cover to make it seem twisted, which it is in some ways. Brian came through for me regarding what I asked for. At the time, I figured a gray and white cover would look good. I didn’t do any research or peruse other thriller book covers.
This time around, I worked with a digital artist, Ana Cruz. I came across a discussion on Goodreads regarding book covers, and someone mentioned deviant art. That’s where I began my search. When I saw Ana’s work, I contacted her, and the rest is history.
To add to the festivities, I am celebrating my 4th anniversary of Net Switch by offering it free for a limited time. Christmas is oh so close, vacations and days off are here, so why not snuggle up with a good book or gift it. Although, I would advise you to keep the lights on. Here are a few ways you can win a copy of Net Switch. Both are opened to international readers.
1. Sign up for my Monthly Newsletter, which you’ll find on the right-hand side of the blog, follow me as an Amazon Author, follow me on Google +, or post a link in the comments of a review you wrote for an indie / self-published author.
